Rosendo Mateu (Arenys de Mar 1945 – Barcelona 2022) embodies the essence of a self-made man, a quality that shines through in his meticulous craftsmanship and dedication to perfection in every creation. For 45 years, Mateu was a leading specialist at Puig, one of the world’s most renowned perfume companies. During his time there, he developed numerous fragrances, each marked by his personal touch—a blend of commercial appeal and artistic innovation.

After contributing to some of the world’s most prestigious brands, Mateu turned his attention to more ambitious endeavours, such as creating bespoke perfumes. This passion led him to explore diverse subjects, from ancient Greek and Roman civilizations to the evocative art of Francis Bacon.

In 2010, Mateu earned the prestigious title of “Maître Parfumeur,” joining an elite circle of perfumers in Europe. By 2017, he embraced his most significant challenge yet: launching his own label with five signature fragrances. After three years of collaboration with his son, Joan, Mateu unveiled these creations, affirming his reputation as one of the world’s finest perfumers.
